How to Choose the Right Photo for Your Portrait
You can choose any photo you like - it can be one of your recent photos or the one you took decades ago.

The artist doesn't make exact copies of the photos but uses them as inspiration for her artwork. So you don't have to worry if there is something in the photo you don't really like, such as the background, the person's clothes, etc. The face matters in your photo, so make sure you find one where it looks the way you like it.

If you can't decide which photo to pick, send a few, and the artist will help you find the right solution for your stunning portrayal.
You can also choose a black and white photo for charcoal or graphite pencil portraits.
The artist created the following five portrayals as a participant in the Sky TV Portrait Artist of the Week competition. Reference photos were computer screenshots taken during the live online event. The portraits were not client orders.
During the Covid pandemic lock-down, Sky TV organized special online events called Portrait Artist of the Week. Each week they invited a famous person to a 4-hour online show while artists from all over the world created their portrayals.

Commission Your Exceptional Hand-Painted Portrait from a Photo
How It Works

Step 1: Submit the contact form
Fill in the contact form and complete the first step towards your beautiful hand-painted portrait from a photo. Include your wishes, such as the media of your choice (acrylic, charcoal, graphite pencil), size, timing, etc. You can add any other comment about the portrait you would like the artist to paint for you. If you cannot decide what kind of a portrayal would be best for you, feel free to leave it open for discussion and suggestions.

Step 2: Choose a portrait style and photo
After reviewing your request, we'll send you the feedback to your e-mail address and ask you to e-mail your photo or photos. You'll discuss details such as portrait style and media, composition, and size with the artist and let the artist know which is your preferred color scheme and time to completion. The artist will answer any questions about the portrayal, the creation process, payment, shipping, etc. She will help you with her suggestions, and together you'll find the best portrait solution for you. After signing the Portrait Commission Agreement with details about the portrait media, price, payment, and due date for completion, you'll be ready for the next step.

Step 3: Downpayment and creating process
After your down payment of 45% of the agreed price, the painting process begins. Credit card payments through all the world's major credit cards are accepted. If you would like to use any other payment method, we can discuss it and find the most convenient solution for your payment.
It only takes a few weeks from the moment you submit an order for a portrait painting or drawing to the finished portrayal. The time to completion depends on the media and the artist's schedule. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks to complete a graphite pencil or charcoal and 2 to 4 weeks to finish an acrylic portrait.
Who can resist peeking at the canvas while the artist is working? The artist would like to give you a bit of that by showing you a photo of your portrait in three stages during the creation process. First, you'll have the opportunity to see the pencil sketch with basic facial features created on the chosen surface - paper or canvas. The artist usually prepares a colored ground canvas for acrylic portrayals and draws a graphite pencil sketch on that surface, as shown in the example below.

After completing the pencil sketch, she will start painting or drawing a detailed portrayal. She'll do her best to show you the result as soon as possible. We'll ask you for a bit of patience since the artist works through the second stage of creating alone without an audience. As soon as the likeness is achieved, and the portrait starts to emerge in the form close to the final look, you'll be able to see it again. After seeing the finished artwork, you will have the opportunity to propose one correction. After the artist performs the correction, your painting or drawing will be ready for shipping from Art studio RDT.

Step 4: Shipping
The finished portrait will be packaged and shipped to your chosen address after receiving the remaining 55% of the total price plus the shipping costs. Shipping worldwide is offered.
Materials and Media
Graphite Pencils, Charcoal and Acrylics
Graphite pencils represent a broadly used art material. This media offers an excellent opportunity to create gorgeous and gentle black and white images. The artist creates her wonderful graphite pencil portraits on white paper.
Charcoal is one of the oldest art materials. It is a dry art medium made of finely ground organic materials. Artists can create impressive art by applying big contrast using very light along with intensely dark applications.
The artist usually creates black and white monochrome charcoal portrait drawings applied on the colored paper that adds a beautiful subtle mid-tone to the portrayal.

Acrylic paint is a medium that blossomed in the second half of the 20th century, and it's been a widely used and popular alternative to oil paint ever since. It is a water-based paint not reliant on any toxic solvents. Artists can apply it to different surfaces, such as cotton canvases, wood, or paper.

Acrylics offer endless possibilities to explore our imagination and create astonishing paintings.
